Coach Passenger Transport (CPT) is the voice of the bus and coach sector across the UK.
Coach operator compliance with the Package Travel Regulations has always been a priority for CPT which is why it was important to maintain the Bonded Coach Holidays scheme (BCH).
The announcement that BCH will continue via an alliance with CPT and ABTOT, ensures that CPT members can continue to protect their package holidays.
ABTOT will take over administration of the scheme from CPT on 1 May 2021.
ABTOT and BCH are two of three approved bodies, regulated by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial strategy (BEIS). ABTOT and BCH oversee the bonding process to ensure that a Travel Organisers’ bond is at an adequate level to meet insolvency requirements as defined by The Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations 2018.
BCH Members will maintain their BCH logo, identity and values by renewing with BCH.
Bernice Molloy, BCH Administrator, CPT UK will join the ABTOT Membership team on 1 April and BCH members will be able start to renewing their bonds during the next few weeks.
CPT alongside ABTOT held a meeting for BCH members earlier today to answer members’ questions about possible changes under the joint scheme. Over 40 businesses joined the zoom call and put questions to Ray Coyne and John Miller from BCH and Samantha Bradbury from ABTOT.
Richard Watson, MD, ABTOT comments:
“We recognise the importance of the BCH scheme to CPT members and we will work with CPT and BCH members to provide a scheme which continues to add value to CPT membership.
We look forward to working with Bernice who will provide the day to day continuity BCH members expect ”
