FCDO’s Travel Aware summer campaign, featuring a toolkit of full messaging and assets

The campaign will run from now until the end of September.

Travel Aware partners play a key role in disseminating important safety messaging to British travellers before they set off abroad, helping them to have safe and enjoyable trips. While most journeys go smoothly, the FCDO still supports 20,000–25,000 consular cases every year, many of which are preventable.

Last year we saw brilliant engagement and support from partners throughout the summer period and FCDO would love to continue to work with ABTOT to build on this for summer 2026.

Our summer campaign ask to partners is over and above the ‘always on’ support and signposting you might already provide as a partner – so that as more people prepare to travel in the summer, they can see more messaging from our partner network, covering all parts of their customer journey.

The attached toolkit provides an overview of this year’s summer campaign, as well as an outline of each strand of activity and examples of copy.

We have some exciting fresh assets for this year, covering the following topics – with a particular focus on 18-30 year olds, but all travellers will benefit from the messaging:

  • General Travel Aware messaging e.g. check Travel Advice, get travel insurance
  • Accidents e.g. quad biking, mopeds and balcony falls
  • Overseas festivals
  • Nightlife safety
  • Methanol poisoning

The campaign assets can be downloaded from the following WeTransfer link in square, vertical and wide formats:

There are lots of ways partners can support including, but not exclusively, social media, website copy, blog posts, customer emails, digital screens (where available) and in PR materials. Hard copies of posters are also available on request. We ask partners for an uplift in their ‘always on’ support, where possible.  We encourage partners to use the selection that’s right for your channels and audience, on a regular basis across summer.

Hopefully the assets and messaging in the toolkit are useful and some partners will use these as they are, but if you need to, we are happy for you to adapt messaging into your own branding look & feel.

Separately, we have ongoing campaigns around the Men’s FIFA World Cup 2026 and drug smuggling.
