Force Majeure due to closure of airspace / missile attacks Middle East
Executive Summary:
Due to the closure of parts of the Middle Eastern airspace, airlines have had to cancel flights. There have also been missile attacks on various countries in the Middle East which also forced the suspension of flights from Dubai airports or Doha Airport. The situation keeps evolving and we continue to monitor it closely.
Affected area:
Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain & UAE (full FM – no proof of flight cancellation needed)
Iraq/Jordan/Oman/Lebanon/Saudi Arabia (airspace closure, FM applies for cancelled flights, flight cancellation proof needed)
Reactive Policy:
HBX Group approved the reactive application of Force Majeure protocol for customers that are unable to travel from/to below mentioned countries due to recent events or cancelled flights.
- Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain & UAE (full FM for customers travelling to/from the country – no proof of flight cancellation needed) from 28th February to 16th March 2026. FM also applies for the same period for flights transiting through Abu Dhabi, Dubai or Doha which have been cancelled due to the events, proof of flight cancellation is mandatory.
- Iraq/Jordan/Oman/Lebanon/Saudi Arabia (due to airspace closure, FM applies for cancelled flights from/to these countries, proof of flight cancellation is mandatory) from 28th February to 16th March 2026.
Important to remember, both FM policies only apply to bookings cancelled on 28th February or after.
Please see that for airspace closures for flight transitioning though affected areas, it is mandatory to send in flight cancellation proof to remove charges.
Those affected by the situation will be able to get a full refund for their unused services. The situation will be constantly monitored, and will be reviewed again, further guidance will be provided depending on the evolution of the situation.
